Hi there,

We have recently purchased a 2nd hand UPVC front door with a glazed side panel and we have a couple of issues we need help resolving.

The new UPVC door including frame and side glazed panel is 1220mm wide yet our old wooden door with frame and side glazed panel is 1345mm so we have a gap of 125mm (5") we will need to fill.
Any ideas on what to do? I did think about constructing a wooden stud frame and cladding it in a piece of UPVC weather board?

Also our UPVC door frame has a glazed panel to the left hand side and I was wondering, How do I go about screwing this side to the brickwork? Do i need to remove the glazed panes, screw it to the brickwork and then re-fit the glass?

I hope this all makes sense

Kind regards

Erran

Hi Erran

your idea is ok, or you could put timber either side to balance it out rather than one big piece down one side and then cover with upvc architrave:)

Yes you need to de-glaze side panel and screw into brickwork or screw bracket to side and then fix to wall,Deglazing is a neater job.

Good Luck
