My flat garage roof was badly damage in that storm a few weeks ago It’s a middle one in a block. The wind got underneath it and ripped the bitman felt back. It’s so bad I need to renew the whole roof. I got some quotes but they are just outrageous so I’ve decided to try the repair myself. I’ve got some idea of what to do but I’m worried about laying new felt on the boards as they have become soaked through.
This is what I think must be done.
1. Cut away the damaged felt along the deviding lines as straight as possible
2. Spread felt adhesive across the boards a bit at a time.
3. Lay first layer of new felt (B&Q traditional felt at £6.29 a roll)
4. Nail first layer with galvanised nails
5. Second layer spread plenty of adhesive overlapping the felt by 2 inches.
6. Third layer same as second overlapping again
7. Paint with solar reflective.
I not sure what to do about the edges and do I just fill all gaps with the mastic adhesive and how do I seal up along the devide. What felt adhesive should I use?
Do I have a chance with this or should I just go and pay the money.
Any help would be appreciated
