We live in a big old 1920's terraced house and have decided to do something with the dining room. Part of the plan is to install a new fangled hole in the wall gas fire witout a hearth. There is a good original chimney in the room and there is already a gas supply. If anyone has already done a similar project and could share their experiences I'd be mighty grateful!!

We're about to do a similar thing, but afraid i cannot help much as we're just going to get a guy to come in and do it for us! Quoted just shy of £2k for fire, installation, and skimming of chimney breast.
