help!

my wife and l have had so many problems with our boiler we are at the end of tether. It's a worcester highflow 400 and the latest problem is that we can get hot water but absolutely no heating. all indications we get is that everything seems to be working fine but the radiators just don't get hot. to make matters worse we have a little 7 mth old and the days are getting colder.

don't know if it's related but just before the heating went l could hear some electrical arcing/sparking from behind the control panel at the top?

Call Worcester, on their fixed price repair scheme. Parts prices on these are such that it can get very expensive. Also, other repairers including BG may need several attempts at finding everything that's wrong with these particular boilers.

thanks ChrisR for your very quick reply. unfortunately the saga continues. keeping a long story short worcester have been out before and as part of their 'service' they recommended we get the system flushed. we haven't had this done and even though l don't believe this has any relevance to our current problem they refuse to come out again until we have had it done. not very helpful plus the engineer was very rude so we are reluctant to call them again. thanks any.

why don't people ever believe what the engineer tells them. Most engineers get the diagnosis correct first time.

From what you have said i would hazard a guess that the engineer found pieces of metal (corrosion from the rads)in the diverter valve. Replacing parts without solving the problem would be stupid. The very reason a powerflush was recommended.

As time has gone on and boilers have evolved the necessity for systems to be clean is more evident. The days of old back boilers which can run until the pump is either blocked or a pipe becomes completly blocked after 20 odd years are no more. Systems can corrode very quickly in less then 5 years if they have not been installed or cleaned and inhibitored correctly. Todays boiler components are not very forgiving and give up very easily.
