Hi folks

I think this question has been asked before but I can't see the thread.

I have an old Vaillant 242/282 turbomax type boiler (not sure exactly which one) which I am hoping to get replaced later this year. Great boiler but like some big old car, probably a bit fuel hungry by today's standards.
So over the summer I want to get the rads and pipes all cleaned out and some replaced. So my plan is to have the CH completely off and drained down for a couple of months.
Is there any way I can keep hot water going during this time? I somehow doubt it's a simply as turning the control to HW only. I could probably rig up some kind of dummy rad if that was the only way.

There is isolating valves under the boiler on the flow and return probably screw driver slots .They will prob be seized or leak if touched after all this time so what you could do is cut the flow and return pipes under the boiler past the filling loop if it is tee`d into the pipe and stick some isolating valves on them .Re pressure the boiler and you can just use it for HW over the summer

Hi gas112

Many thanks.

Yes, the original iso valves probably not touched in years if not decades so some new valves a bit further 'downstream' sounds like a plan, especially as I've got to cut into the pipework anyway.

Then I can just switch the boiler to HW only and refill sounds like job done.
