Anyone have any tips on How To Clean a Silk Tie?

Ive had bad experieces with dry cleaners being incompetent in the past so im trying to avoid them

Ive been told that rubbing alcohol would be good - what is rubbing alcohol (is it like normal strong alcohol..vodka 40%? or is it more like meths/white spirit - this seems a bit too strong)

any ideas please
