I need to replace the cartridge as control over hot / cold is lacking the cold part!

Oh, are these things repairable / cleanable? Or do they just simply wear out.

Damned prohibitively expensive things it would appear.

They have filters on the inlets and also on the outside of the thermo cartridge itself. I'd service those 1st before looking at replacing the thermostat. All repairable though.
