Hi. We have an Ignis dishwasher (believe made by Whirlpool). Inherited it
3 years ago when we moved house. Has worked ok up to now. However, when switched on, the water fills the bottom of the machine and the programme runs ok but the water does not seem to come out of the spray arms, therefore not cleaning the dishes. Would I be correct in assuming that it would be the pump which has given up? Is it expensive? Worth doing? Many thanks for all help received.

Yes your machine is produced by Whirlpool. It is identifiable by a 12 digit number on the door lip & should be very close to this: 8545 347 15410. Is the start led flashing in a specific pattern? i.e. "x" flashes - pause -"x" flashes, if so this indicates a particular error code. Usually the problem boils down one of the following: spray arms blocked, pressure loss, wash motor capacitor faulty, wash motor impeller jammed/defective, or wash motor failure.
