You can't delete a whole thread. However, you can edit individual messages so that they consist of, say, just a full stop.
If you really wanted to, you could click on 'report' (to the bottom right of one of your posts) and ask the mods to remove the thread.

Having done what John suggests, if the double post happened because of the device you were using then maybe you should consider the possibility that you were using an inappropriate device.
I don't think that anybody could accuse me of being a too-infrequent poster here, but when I'm not using my PC I don't fret, and think "by golly, I really ought to be using my phone/tablet right now to participate in DIYnot".
