Incoming Power cable - How much movement is possible underground (Ed.)

If i can get my hands on a CAT scanner, that should confirm which is live and which is dead as a start?

I realize what this is and have seen 1st hand the consequences of compromising a cable like this so am very mindful that the correct answer is "you should not touch" but in reality is using something to persuade it over 4" a huge risk? I assume UKPN will not be interested in such a job or will charge an arm and a leg for it.

Damage that cable, in attempting to move it, and you will take the entire street out, blinding, or potentially killing yourself. So you, doing anything with it, is very high-risk. Call the responsible people UKPN.

I will not be touching anything.

I now plan to scan both to see which is live then give UKPN a call. Hopefully just need 1 capped off and nothing moved.

Don't worry Darwinian award forthcoming, sadly.
Those underground (armoured?) cables are not particularly fragile. We've ragged them about no end. You just don't go attacking them with shovels or machine buckets, lol.

Edited: I had suggested digging more out and moving it. But I'd assumed it was modern armoured plastic coated. It looks like it may be older, in which case definitely do not touch.

Having had a further look today, if I stitch in another brick to each of the piers making them slightly wider either side of the drive, it will change the bollard centers and allow them to site beside the cables. This will mean no moving / capping /touching required.

I get if a vehicle hits one of the bollards it COULD be an issue but it would need to hit it hard to move it any distance and given the cars are within 1m of the bollard max and you would be reversing onto a main road at walking pace, this is would have to be a serious F up.

Any major concerns with this as a solution?

Might just be easier to buy a removable steering wheel lol I get it's a deterrent but if someone wants to steal your high end car bad enough a bollard won't stop them (the lock could probably be cut or picked in seconds) maybe another solution in your case

My experience of SSE is they will happily come out, show you plans, give you guidance, do a cat scan, mark out where cables go etc, all for free.
