I live in a block of flats with a shared cold water storage tank in the roof. This feeds cold taps directly, giving a pressure of about 2bar, & a combination storage tank above the hot water cylinder, in an open vented indirect system. Hot water pressure is about 0.2bar.

Is there any reason why the cold feed can not be connected directly to the hot water cylinder, hopefully, increasing & balancing the pressures of the hot & cold taps.

Supply to the primary & expansion vent pipes to both circuits would remain the same.

It would be permanently overflowing.

Thanks. I did figure that out after posting. I guess I would have to vent back to the tank in the roof to prevent this. Would solve the shower problem...

if you are going to renew the cylinder
why not feed it from a new tank in the loft
balanced supplies and no need for a pump if you have 2 bar at the tap
