Can anyone please help? I have an Indesit W123 and when I put my clothes on any cycle it gets about half way through and then the program selector dial just starts clicking round and won't stop.

Usually there is water still inside the machine and I have to drain the drum myself. Do you reckon I have a blockage somewhere? I am totally hacked off with it. Any ideas anyone? :(

I had/have exactly the same problem with exactly the same model of appliance. It p*sses me off.

At the moment the machine is behaving - this is what I did...

1. Empty the water out;
2. Take off the filter cover and clean the filter;
3. Check that the washing machine waste pipe was clear of debris.
4. Check that the 1 1/2" waste pipe was clear of debris all the way to the outside gully.
5. Correct the poor installation of the waste hose into the standpipe - it was pushed right down into the top of the trap.

It took me a while to suss out that the above actions made any difference, and in the course of doing it I discovered the trick that seemed to wake it out of the "clicking round" nonsense, which was as follows:

1. Turn machine off.
2. Turn the programmer forwards to the NEAREST stop position.
3. Turn machine on again, and let it drain, and let it stop.
4. Turn off, and select whatever program you next need.
5. Turn on again.

I may have imagined it, but it seemed only to stop when I selected the stop position that the nearest to the ORIGINAL program that I'd selected.

Oh, and I contacted Indesit. This was a complete waste of my time and theirs. In the end I resolved never EVER to buy another Indesit appliance.

Thanks for the info Softus, I'll give it a try. I also contacted Indesit (who incidentally don't seem to want to know after the warranty has expired on their appliances) and they were most unhelpful!
