Hi all,

I want to replace an exisiting window at the back of my living room with french/patio doors. Can I just take out the window and the section of the wall directly beneath it, or do I need to worry about supporting the section of wall at the top of the window while I do this?

Also, I read somewhere that planning permission is needed to install these doors. Surely that isn't the case is it?

Thanks.

Yes (as long as you have a lintel over it......) and no (as long as its not on the front of your house, in a listed building, conservation area, outstanding beauty, phone up your LA and ask!), its a building notice that you need
