Hi there,

I'm going to replace my freestanding cooker with a built in electric oven and worktop mounted GAS HOB. The cooker control unit has sufficent cabling and is on 10.00mm cable with 30A breaker in the CU.

The GAS Hob I have got requires a 240v 3A connection to power the ignitior. Yet the CORGI guy I have lined up says that it can be connected into the connector box that will run the oven. Is this allowed or does it need to have it's own FSU off the kitchen ring main?

Just for info, the Oven is 230v / 13A / 2.1Kw.

Thanks in advance,

advise oven to be connected to cooker circuit with 2.5mm² heat resistant flex from the cooker connection unit to the oven, breaker changed for a 16A one, make a note thats why the breaker has been changed.

Hob, FCU on ring with 3A fuse, and the load terminals connected to a flex outlet plate below the countertop for the gas hob to connect to.

Part P notifiable BTW...

Thought as much, will get a sparky in to sort it out in advance.

Yet the CORGI guy has basic level NICEIC certification to do stuff on boilers, hobs, and the like. Would this cover him to fit the FSU and replace the breaker in the CU?

Yes it would, but he doesn't sound fully competent (in the normal, everyday sense of the word)....

Thanks BAN, might suggest to him that he sticks to just doing GAS as he did a good job of the boiler when he replaced it.
