I want to widen a plastic spike that's stuck in concrete for a rotary dryer, i got a new one (dryer) and the pole's 45mm but the spike for the old one (plastic that's still in) is about 40. It's to save me digging the block of concrete out plus there's a lot of it. I thought if i could take a skiff of about 5mm off the old spike to get the new dryer on it.

How about a 40mm length of tube in the bottom of the new pole left protruding by the depth of the spike. Do you still have pole from the old drier?

Like a sleeve, that's one way, yes I've still got the old one it's still up, I'll try that thanks

Edit...I can't as there's an inward ridge on the new one all the way up because of the design
