joint in cable

i need to move a socket down the wall more but wire in the wall will not reach i got a 30amp jb i was going to just joint it and plaster it in the wall some one said not to do that is there a reason why are can i just do it

You can't do that John, it's against the regulations because all screw connections must be accessible for maintenance and fault finding, etc.

The very best way is to replace the entire length/lengths of cable from the origin, but crimped or soldered joints are considered permanent and may be buried. If you are going to attempt crimping, make sure you use a suitable ratchet crimping tool and not the flimsy ones you use for car wiring. Whatever you do, you must maintain the integrity of the insulation or you will end up with problems in the future.
