Laminated/melamine panels

Getting geared up for the post Xmas return to the D.I.Y chores.
Would like to use plastic laminated sheeting (like the sort of thing you get for round your fireplace), instead of tiles round the new bath/shower area to give a clean flat smooth finish (the walls are cr*p, L.A. might have employed decent sparkies but I think the plasterers where p++++++d !!).
Has anyone got any pointers on where to start searching ? I've punched in melamine AND laminate but getting no joy.
