Either:

1. Network the two PCs;
or
2. Take the hard drive out of one and put it in the other.

Also...

Borrow a USB DVD Writer, or USB external hard drive if you know anyone that has one?

Depends on how many GB you have or if you want to do it again in the future, maybe..

4GB USB memory sticks are ~£22 if you shop around
8GB ~£40

There a syndrome on some web fora whereby some people claim to be able to get stuff at prices that:

(a) they can't actually get that stuff for at all;
or
(b) they are the only person who can get that stuff at that price;
or
(c) is the kind of price for which you get only the cheapest crappest tat that nobody in their right mind would want;
or
(d) all of the above.

You may well be right but as a 'disposable' transfer medium I think I'd take a punt on the cheapest, wouldn't do the same for a PSU or more important PC component but a USB stick I'd go for

Tis a bit on the slow side though, which is probably why it's cheap.

The 4 GB flash drive i have is fast by my standards, only use it for archiving/backup/portability, I do backups to hard drive and zip disk also so no worries on eventual EEprom failure.
In saying that I am still using the earlier ones bought from my memory years later without problems so I can vouch for their reliability.
