Anyone know whether you can lay slabs on existing concrete or do you have to dig up the concrete and then lay them. Assuming its relatively flat concrete - can I just throw on some sand then the slabs and thats it -this would save me a lot of time and effort.

what you have to think about here is the drainage where is the water going to go, if you screed the concrete with sand and lay the slabs on top i think it will cause problems unless you jointed all the slabs with mortar and directed the water into a grate.

use three sand and one cement also do a five point cement which means one on each corner and one in the middle, put plenty under and tap down with a rubber mallet, remove any excess, it does work as i have just done it, but do be carefull about any water drainage

Make sure you got a slight fall to where you want the rainwater drainage to go to e.g. away from the property.
