Help needed. There is a leak where the supply goes into the toilet cistern and I am having problems loosening the nut. I've tried gripping the valve and using a spanner on the nut, but no matter how hard I hold the valve - it spins. Does anyone have any tips to make this easier? Should I use something like WD40?

what tool are you using to hold the valve, and where are you gripping it?

is it side or bottom? brass or plastic? where is the leak?

the leak is coming from above the nut under the cistern. The supply pipe is plastic and the connector to the cistern/valve is metal.
