Hi

Bedroom light blew today and simply as normal changed lighhtbulb and it starts working again, but not this time, each time I switched the light on the 5 amp fuse at the main electric box also blew out, tried this three times replacing fuse wire but each time the same fuse blew ?

Any ideas on how to resolve this would be welcome.

Thanks

Gavin

perhaps the bulbholder is worn or cracked. Either it has an internal fault or it is allowing the metal parts of the bulb to cause a short.

Enclosed lamps tend to get hot and crack when old.

Did you put a new bulb in each time?

You have a short presenting when you supply the fitting. There could be a N-L fault on the switchwire, meaning possibly a duff fitting.

Did it occur to you to question whether this fault-finding procedure was safe? (It isn't by the way) And why, having tried it once, did you think that simply repeating the process might clear the problem?

Any ideas on how to resolve this would be welcome.

You need somebody with the knowledge, experience and equipment to do the job properly and safely. Call an electrician.
