Hi,

I was wondering whether the following change is safe and/or legal. To be honest, I'm not overly bothered about the legality of it as long as it's safe!

I currently have two ceiling lights on a single 2-gang switch. I want to combine them on a single switch (they're 60w incandescent bulbs so not a big load), but the wiring for one of them is under the floor in the bathroom... and under the bath. So I can't access that.

What I want to do is effectively change this:

to this:

(earth removed for clarity).

So I'm effectively changing the wiring within the switch.

Is this okay?

In wiring terms it is safe to do this provided you know what you are doing, follow safe isolation procedures, test and certify the work in accordance with BS7671. If its work within a kitchen or bathroom, outside or remote building then its notifiable to the LABC.
