Lounge light gone off, random flickering on other lights apart from kitchen leds, there are no dimmer switches

lights tend to be daisy-chained ceiling rose to ceiling rose, a tester like this

may find which is last ceiling rose to be working, seems likely a junction box in the kitchen, these

are often used to replace ceiling roses when down lights are fitted. However, if down lights were DIY fitted, we can find wiring like this

which is just asking for problems. But at the moment my crystal ball

is playing up, so can't really help much more.

Is it safe for now having new c u in new year can I wait til then or does it need checking asap

That depends on the reason for the flickering - if it's just due to a poor connection somewhere, then that is reasonably safe. If the flickering is due to a short somewhere, then that could potentially be serious. With the lights on, if you listen carefully, with them flickering, you may be able to hear where the problem is located.

Just had lights checked, all connectios safe.
Still flickering, electrician checked at c u said could be a poor connection there but is safe.
Having new board new year anyway so will resolve then.
He was here for 2 hours

Qualified electrician, I'm in their hands, like I wrote, checked all lights connection in the loft and at the ceiling, checked all switches, checked the fuse carrier connection at the board, should he have checked something else

LED bulbs do tend to start flickering when they are about to fail. It may seem unlikely that several are failing at the same time, but coincidences do happen. Did the "electrician" not suggest that it could simply be the bulbs failing?

I've changed them in the past when they fail but they never flicker just straight out but ther are ok with no flicker for now
