Loft boarding in a 1880 built terrace...

Hi All,

I've just bought my first house, its a terrace built in 1880 (ish). The loft is currently boarded but they have just chucked down some standard tongue and groove chipboard and nothing is secured down at all. I would like to make it into a useable space that i can easily move around and store my bits and pieces in (nothing ridiculously heavy)

The space is about 4 metres wide and maybe 4-5 long.

I am open to suggestions and ideas :o) Cheaper the better ;)

Why not just screw the chipboard down, and make sure you put any load within a few feet of any supporing wall below? At the cost of a box of screws,that would probably be the cheapest option,
