Hi, I need to fit interconnected smoke detectors in my house in order to get a certifciate to be able to rent it out. Want to fit ourselves to save on cost. Can anyone advise on how to go about doing this, ahve no idea where to start? Cheers
Its quite straight forward. Decide where you need them, Building Control may have advised you on this and I cant comment as I don't know enough about the property. You can add a new circuit but that will mean Part P. You can feed them from the local lighting circuit so that may get round PP.
Take a feed from the local lighting circuit using a 2 core + earth to the first sensor and then a 3 core + earth cable between the first and other sensors. The brown and grey should be used for live & neutral with the grey sleaved blue. The black is then used as the trigger and that loops between all sensors. The black can be used for the neutral sleaved blue but this is not as recommended by the NIC and other bodies
