Hello all,

Has anyone experience of mass concrete construction? I am in the middle of purchasing a 1930's farmhouse made mostly of mass concrete (single skin). There is no DPC and no foundations, evidence of some penetrating damp most likely some rising damp. Although i haven't seen it during winter i reckon it's fairly wet inside.

My strategy for dampproofing and insulation is to

1) re-render external walls.
2) dry line the inside walls with Kingspan.

Is it as staraight forward as this? Any advice?

Thanks

i would, depending on the tolerances, build an external brickwork skin.

this would be built creating an 80mm cavity which would be filled with drytherm cavity batts.

bond the two leaves together with bluebird ss anchors.

p.s the outer skin would be built off an independant 1m dig foundation, or b.c. approved.
