max wash machine drain height?

I'm Moving our washing machine into a new utility but the waste will have to go up over a lowered doorway next to the washing machine which is approx 4 feet above the floor level of the washing machine - at the other side of the doorway the waste will drop vertically and join the wc soil pipe (boss on bend that connects to back of wc) .- will this be acceptable - i.e. will the machine pump to this height ok?
Also Will I need to incorporate a u bend/trap or valve, if so: - just after leaving washing machine or just before connecting to soil pipe?
