Minimum distance FCU to combi boiler

I've just been told that the FCU my assistant installed must be 2 metres away from a gas supply.
I think 2 metres is the maximum distance for safe isolation, but Gas fitter insisted on it being minimum.

Who is right?

If you set it exactly at 2m it won't matter
