I have one of these(foolishly)Ideal isar HE30 piles of crap.

It shows the fault code HF(Flame detection, short circuit error?) flashing and wont fire up.

I have checked the continuity on the double socket from the pc which read .1, the same before and after the multi-metre was connected. I assume this is correct(?)and therefore the pcb is not at fault(?).

Any suggestions(apart from throw it in a skip)would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Taz.

    Update

I removed the cap from the Flame Detection Electrode and the boiler fired up for a few seconds, showing d on the display and then showed error code L-F which is now the only fault code showing.

    PLEASE HELP

I assume with you messing about in the boiler you are Gas safe registered. If not I would advise you get an engineer in .

And why can I not fix the boiler myself with a little advice?

Because it's against the law if you aren't competent to do so.

I asked for a little advice on diagnosis not a lecture on Gas Safe regs, of which I am quite well versed, thanks.

So what you are saying is that some Gas Safe registered heating engineers aren't competent?

I am sure I have read some asking for advice too.

Hopefully someone with a helpful attitude will come along soon..............afterall that's what the site is all about or am I wrong.

Read the forum rules. No DIY gas advice on the open forum.

You're wrong, no advice is given on fixing boilers on this forum other than get someone in who knows what they are doing

Taz, you're clearly not competent with your only information source being google and forums. No one will be stupid enough to tell you what to do as it could potentially put yourself/family at risk
