Hey hoping someone has advice for me I've tried changing the pretensioner but the light didn't go out and the corsa onboard scan doesn't say there is anything wrong with the car but the light is still on tried checking the fuses no joy cleaning the connection under the seat, draining the system with the pretensioner unplugged then plugging it in hooking the battery up but the light always goes on and comes right back like a persistent error

You need it plugged in to proper diagnostic kit.

Some crash flags are permanent, hopefully not yours!.

As Keithmac says, a lot of safety-critical warnings "latch", so once triggered, you can't easily clear them. Chances are, you've already fixed the fault though. Some higher-end cars have to go to a franchised dealer, who, in turn, has to go to the manufacturer, who has to generate a one-off code, valid for a set number of hours, to put in via the diagnostic equipment to put the light back out, I'm afraid.

Beyond my pay grade, I'm afraid! I don't know what the airbag light protocol is on a Corsa. Is it supposed to go out with the alternator light or does it stay on longer? I think on quite a few cars, they stay on a bit longer. It'll be down to how well the MOT tester knows Corsas. I think you can buy dodgy emulators on ebay that you connect to the light and it just puts the light on for the correct amount of time. Not sure, really.

Why not fix it properly rather than bodge it?..

Harry, can't you ask one of your teaches at your college?

You are training to be a mechanic.

Try and find someone local to you that has a copy of opcom software, I'm in Nottinghamshire and have a copy of it with a cable.
