I have an archway which I have removed the arches to make square and I want to put wood pillasters or some kind of moulding around the top and edges to make a feature of it, I can find plaster ones on the net but no wood, anyone with ideas or know where I can get some. The nearest I have found to what I want is on a salvage site and they were mega bucks.

Somthing like this but wood

Have you thought about making one out of mdf sheet but will need a router tool for the groove and the top & bottom section could be made out of fancy skirting board. This way you can have the size you want and would be a lot cheaper.

Most woodyards or carpentry shops will have a spindle moulder and could cut the mouldings you want if you give them a drawing to work off.
If the profile you want is not one of their standard profiles they will have to get cutters made which makes the job very expensive for a short length.
Many profiles are made from a number of standard profiles added together to make the finished shape by glueing and pinning them together.
