I’m about to refit my kitchen and need to relocate the Control Unit for my cooker plus some other power outlets and switches. I intend to complete the work myself and have notified Building Control and an inspection has been scheduled.

My question is, if there is insufficient cable to move the Cooker Control Unit the required distance (about 60cm) what is the safest and most practical way of extending the cable? Would I need to use a 30A Junction Box, 30A terminal blocks in a mounting box with blanking plate, crimp and heat shrink or some other method? If I use the Junction box it will not be accessible because it will be hidden by the kitchen units. Will this be a problem?
