I have just bought a new house and am in the process of fitting the kitchen.

curently there is a double socket about 40mm from the floor, this will now fall behind on of the units i am fitting.

Is there a way I can extend the existing cable and move the socket to a new location? ideally I would like to have a new single socket at the same hight for the washing machine and a double at unit level. Is this possible to do? and am I able to do it myself?

ignore that he ain't got a clue wot hes on about

you should be able to move the socket higher because the cables should come down from the ceiling you can split the ring by leaving 1 of the cables at the existing socket then take the other cable to the new socket then just add a 2.5mm t+e link inbetween the two

Part P applys to this due to it being in a special location aka kitchen either notify building control before you start the work or get an electrican in whos registered to carry out the work
:D
