my MCB prevented a dimmer switch from been destroyed, a bulb blew, the MCB tripped and the dimmer still works afterwards, this situation is one in a million, a dimmer is almost always destroyed when a bulb blows.

Yes, I agree, with the old tungsten halogen bulbs.

Unless the dimmers have fuses fitted. Some very old dimmers had these.

I haven't known any issues with LED bulbs going.
