    IMG_6516.jpg IMG_6517.jpg IMG_6518.jpg Hi,

I have an old fire door which has been removed and cut up but we are at a lost to what the black metal sheet like material is. The door is made up of wood and some Gyproc wallboards and an extra material. I plan to bag it up and take it to an asbestos tip if i cant identity the material. One person has said they doubt its asbestos as the plasterboard would be acting as the fire resistant material. I know it shouldn't have been broken up :(

    Thanks in advance

It looks like normal foam used to pack out and compress when the face panel is fixed. I don't think it would be necessary for it to be graphite foam. Not asbestos anyway

I have updated a photo with yellow arrows pointing to the sheet. It feels like a metals slate compound but breaks quite easily. I know it’s not slate but I am really at a lost to what it could be. Hopefully in the photos you can make out a veneer wood skin, then this mystery material and then the plasterboard. Wood in the middle, then another plasterboard sheet, mystery material sheet then the other side of the door. Thanks for looking.
