Nailing floorboards

I've just put 1/2" ply over my lounge floorboards to raise the level, screwed every 8" in all directions(!!!) I was going to lay a laminate floor, but it seems it's cheaper to lay 'real' pine floorboards. I've searched the site and think I've got all the answers to invisible nailing - T nail through tongue every 30cm at 45 degrees. One question I have -
Replies always refer to a portanailer. (I've found them on the net) I already have a capable compressed-air nail-gun and T nails. Can anyone see any problems with using this instead of a portanailer? :)
