hi

I've got a diy book Collins Complete DIY Manual, p132) that shows how to needle a wall so that a lintel can be added and an opening made. I want to make a high opening in the chimney which is currently bricked up. Can needles be put in and supported from just one side?

thank you :)

hi, thanx for reply

what about metal wall supports? book says 'each support requires only one adjustable prop' - description is a little too brief though - can i use these, or if not, how do i go about supporting the chimney wall to install a lintel - i only want to heighten the opening - not demolish the whole thing.

thanx :)

you could use an acrow with a strongboy but personally i would say its beyond the DIY reaches (no disrespect inteneded) best to get a local builder round
