I'm trying to replace an ordinary one way one gang light switch with a neon indicator switch. I have only one red ( live) and one black (switch live) to connect, however I have 4 option L supply, N supply, L load, N load. I need to find out if I can use the switch. How can I wire it in such a way that when it is switch on, the neon illuminates and vice versa.

you need at least one neutral to make the neon work.

what the previous post was trying to say is, what you want will not work as it is, your neon requires a neutral to operate

The switch and back box is plastic, could I feed the neutral through the spare earth wire ??

Hi - may I ask why you need the neon? Is it (eg) so you can find the switch in the dark?

Kind Regards
