I am planning to lay a concrete base for double garage on the site of existing single garage. Original plan was remove old base and lay completly new one. However existing base is very sound and is based on good sub base, can I incorporate part of existing base into new?

How do I ensure good bond between old and new? ( I Propose 2" thick layer concrete over old base)

Will there be any danger of new base settling whilst old base won't?

Many thanks

Resin dowel in some reinforcement bars to tie in the two slabs, cut the existing slab at 45deg with bottom being wider. Some thought should go into lapping in DPM.
