I recently had a new living room carpet fitted, much thicker than previous. Obviously the doors needing skimming so I took them off and planed them. They only just touch the carpet when opening/closing the door, but from the hallway the gap is huge. I literally had to take of 3/4”. Is there something I could have done better, or is this just something Ill have to live with, seeing as it goes from wood floor to carpet?
