Hi all

I want to replace the doors downstairs in the house. The problem is I appear to have small frame heights, around 1960mm. All the doors I can find are around 1981mm height. I am not sure if its safe to plane or cut off so much from each end. I will be using solid wood doors, not hollow ones. Also the widths are a little funny. They are:-

Porch Door 795mm
Living room Door 683mm
Kitchen Door 755mm

Has anyone any ideas, or do I need new door frames. If so how hard are they to fit. Also are made to measure door expensive??

Many thanks

Chris

depends on the door construction quality ect

it is a lot and if the frame is out of square you could eat
into this a bit more

if its a paneled pine door with top rail of 80mm
youd get away with 7mm and if its about 150mm
13mm of the bottom shoud be ok

big all

as for altering the door frames

depends on what is behind you may be lucky with a 12mm gap
all the way round
you may have a 40mm frame you may have no gap
only looking will tell

big all
