Judging by the picture, I'd check the electrical connection if you haven't done so already.

If I were you and the valves shut off I would just be changing the head unless you're happy with cutting the valve nuts off.

How would i do that?

By opening the terminal box on the pump, and checking that the connections are secure.

If you're not confident doing this, you will need to find someone to change the pump for you.

Do you know what pump it is i need without doing that? if a buy a new one and get a plumper to fit it?

thanks

Cheers, is it right for the pump to get really hot, so hot you can't touch it?, my pump is making a funny noise and it's really hot, and only 2 radiators out of 8 are working at the moment.

Thanks

It will get hot it's mechanical and has hot water going through it.

Quick try. Go and bleed a radiator and post back on the amount of water that comes out and at what force. Turn off system before you do.

Slower than normal? dribble? Check your FE tank to see if it's empty. I suspect the pump noise is due to that or cold feed blockage.

Thanks for the help, what i had a plumper a while ago he took the pump off and you heard a load of water running through the pipes and black water was dripping when he took it off, is this right?

thanks
