new shower

hi everyone. I'm putting in a new shower in my bathroom, i've put one of these onto the pipe work and i'm just wondering if it's on tight enough, it feels really tight wont go any tighter with the grips im using, any ideas, how much of the thread should be showing etc.

On the whole, an adjustable spanner is better to use rather than grips. Nut should be hand tight plus 1/2 to 3/4 further turn does is.
