Thanks for replies to earlier post.

Man came out to check system today. Expected damage to a drain run from septic tank of 50yds to probable soakaway. Instead found 6in clay pipes for only 10ft and then soakaway in middle of lawn; all totally clogged and penetrated by tree roots.

He told me I should replace, dig out and extend drain into some bushes 20yds away; dig out and create new soakaway and replace collars and 'T' in brick tank.

Told me not a DIY job, and would cost £600 inc. materials and todays inspection. We have rubble and shingle he will use.

Is he right that job too specialised, and is his price about right (for Norfolk). Can I claim on Insurance for root damage? Any help appreciated, thanks.
