I have a apollo 30/50b boiler that has started to make gurgling and banging noises from inside the boiler after it has been switched off for 10 minutes(ie pump, and valves turned off by the programmer and thermostat on the boiler turned off). Sounds like the water in the boiler is overheating. The pump overrun does not appear to have ever been connected as the pump is wired into a junction box elsewhere. These noises can be stopped if you restart the pump with the boiler thermostat switched off to allow the water to cool. but once the pump is switched off again after running it for half an hour, the cold water in the boiler seems to heat up again and start making a noise. the only way to stop this is to turn the pilot light out. also ive just noticed that the overheat stat has been disconnected! ( Not by me) however the boiler has been working ok for the 2 years that we have been in the house. Can anyone help

Get a heating engineer to look at it. Overheat stats etc. are there for a reason disconecting them will lead to permanent damage of the boiler at some stage. Ask yourself...Why disconnect a device that stops the boiler from OVERHEATING.......!!!!
