I have a baxi solo 3 PFL 70 boiler. It was very noisy yesterday, sounded like someone drilling. When I lowered the thermostat on the bolier, the noise was decreased by 50%. By evening, the electricity supply was tripping every 10 minutes, so I swited the bolier off overnight. I switched it back on this morning and the boiler light comes on, the fan light comes on (with no noise) but the pilot light does not come one. How do I get the pilot light on? What could have caused the loud noise? Please help!!!

the fan light on the boiler is on and I do hear the normal fan noise so I presume yes.

The pump vibrates slightly and a little warm but I can't tell whether it's working.

I presume it was the noisy boiler tripping the electricity because when we switched the boiler off, the electricity didn't go off in the house. When the boiler was on, most of the swicthes in the house went off every 10 mins or so, ie tv, kettle computer etc. When we switched the boiler off, we didn't lose electricity.

if you can reach the flue see if you can feel the draught

undo the silver screw in the centre and have a look

which starts to point to dodgy fan or pump ;)

so you need to check them first

I would suspect the fan motor. Don't rely on the fan light confirming it is running. These can illuminate with a faulty fan/aps. Been caught out by this before
