hi all

i've just been tiling behind my shower mixer, and when reattaching the mixer to the pipes i noticed that the original pfte tape had fallen to bits, so i'm going to reapply ptfe, and my question is (never having used the stuff before):

How much do i need to put on? I wound it round the pipes about 4 times, but now i'm thinking maybe i should have put on more!

sorry for the useless question, but hey everyone has to start at the bottom!

great - thanks!

if only everything in life was as logical as plumbing!

Just remember to wind it on the same way the thread goes otherwise when you tighten the nut you will actually be stripping it off and rendering it virtually useless.

Oddly enough I was watching a DIY programme this very morning and they said 20 times

Some rad valve tails need an awful lot of wraps to seal esp dodgy towel rails.
I buy the stuff by the kilometer :D

On rad tails threads I always use 10 turns, its a nice round number to count
