Hello,

Just got a decent cylinder mower, and am wonder wether it would be best to go North-South or East-West for beast lawn stipes? Im thinking North-South because the sun travels from East-West but would love to hear other opinions!

Towards and away from your house is usual.

You can see the stripes that way, since the blades of grass are bent alternately towards you and away from you. You can't see them if they are perpendicular to your line of sight.

It is otherwise an advantage to mow up the long way, as this gives you fewer turns.

JohnD is exactly right,

But now and then, if you have a roller cylinder mower, mow at 90 degrees to your normal cutting direction.
If you always follow the same route with a roller mower, your hollows will get hollowier and your mounds will get moundier (spell check loved those two words )..........
