Hi
I have a problem with my boiler. I kind of think its the photo cell but not sure. The Boiler will start on the button. Will run for 20sec then cut out. If I then press the reset button it will then continue till the water is a temp then will not start again.

We ran out of oil and had the tank filled with 1000ltrs (boy did that hurt). This was when the problems started. i've cleaned the nozzle checked the in line filter and striped the pump and put it all back together. i've checked for air in the system but still the same Symptoms. runs 20 sec stops restart runs till hot stops.

Any Ideas would be great

Symptoms. runs 20 sec stops restart runs till hot stops.

Are you saying after 20 secs the boiler stops and needs resetting?
Or does it relight after 20s?

and so you reset it and it will run till it goes off on temp? yes?

bleeding is irrelevant
bear in mind its a suction line so could draw air from a bad joint

WDIK

Not quite sure if he means lockout after 20s :? :?

He did say he bled system, again not clear if he bled oil line?

Boy you plumbers are as bad as us IT people.

When I said I bled the system I bled the filter and I bled the pump. I have taken the pump to bits and cleaned all the sludge out of it including its filter. I have cleaned the jet and the line from the pump to the jet.

When I said the systems locksout I mean the control box red light comes on and needs to be pressed to reset. At which time the boiler re lights and goes for a while. Sometimes will run for 20 seconds some time will run till required temp is reached.

Main thing is the system (boiler) does not continue to run I must reset it.

:o :o :o You still aint told us make and model, unless your on the wrong forum and are trying to get your range rover to run

Now if you want help then tell us what we need to know?

Boiler make would be a start
Burner modle would be even better

The burner is:

EDGB Oil Burner
and the boiler is a trianco

the oil pump is danfoss the control unit is BHO -12.1 photocell danfoss ld

What about pump pressure. I've read a number of threads where it is mentioned that you should never touch the screw that regulates pump pressure. What does this do and could this create a simillar problem to what I am having.
