Hi there,

I have a Grant 15-21 oil boiler which we had installed March 2012. I have had it serviced regularly (i.e. yearly).

Today I ran out of hot water in the shower which was slightly odd. I went downstairs and turned on the boiler, both hot water and heating and thought nothing of it. An hour or so later I realised I still had no hot water and the radiators remain cold. The boiler is in use every day normally.

I have oil in the tank according to the watchman but I am about to go out and do a dip test.

Could there be air or sludge etc in the line? Is there anything I can try.
Cheers
Rossco

None that I can see, the only light visible is on the on/off button. It only illuminates once turned on. The boiler is currently off, although I am looking to see if I can find the bleed valve.

I did press the lock-out button when it was switched off but not the overheat thermostat reset button on the top panel. I will go an do both now. Is it simply a case of depressing when the boiler is off?

Unscrew the black cover and press the small spindle in.
Do it with boiler on.

Tried it but no luck. Boiler still fires up and runs but no heat. I also tried bleeding the system. Oil comes through, no real evidence of bubbles, but again no heat. Any other ideas?

So the boilers firing and the pipes get hot?

What about in the airing cupboard.

The boiler is on i.e. its noisey, but there is no heat. If I feel around the unit itself there is some residual heat but not much. Pipes and hot water tank stone cold.

So, the burner is starting and running but then shutting down shortly after, is that it?
The flue pipe is getting hot?
